Hey, we said the "Good Old Days Are Still Here" and
here's proof...the Ray Behnke Memorial Road Rally! Held on Sunday
of Hog Days weekend, this event showcases antique cars from throughout
the area.

Now that it's a rally, drivers are allowed to carry passengers and
most will give rides to anyone who wants to imagine what the world was
like back when horses still ruled!

|
Ray Behnke was a hard core Model T enthusiast who got
things going in 1968. Officially added to the Hog Fest schedule in
1969, it's been going strong ever since!

 |
Model T's were built between 1907 and 1927. For you young
whippersnappers, the rally allowed those "newer" Model A's (built
between 1928 and 1931) into the rally for the first time in 2004.

Back in the day a 40 mile race was held. Then one
day, the insurance companies said they didn't think racing near
priceless antiques on the public streets was such a good idea. So
nowadays we hold a rally and do a poker draw to determine who wins
prizes.

When Ray Behnke was alive he always insisted there be no fees
charged to be in the race/rally or to watch it. The organizers of
this event honor Ray's legacy to this day...it's free to be in our road
rally and it's free to watch it. Thanks Ray! 6. |
