Make a BIG Splash at Hog Days!

The Hog Wallow Classic observed its 27th installment in 2011 hosted by the Kewanee unit of the Illinois National Guard.

The basics are simple.  Two full-sized courts are created at Chautauqua Park in Kewanee, IL. Only instead of grass or sand, the "floor" is 12 to 15 inches of our finest Henry County mud!  The result, as you can see from the photos and video below, are two teams, volleyballs and nets pretty much totally covered in muck by the end of each match. Yeah! Let's see you spike that ball NOW mud boy!

The entry proceeds go to the Kewanee Park District Youth Programs.  Plaques go to the 1st through 4th place winning teams. And everyone ends up showering for days afterward. It's great!

Click on the muddy pigs above to get the rules and to get signed up. Oh, and if you have any extra Mr. Clean...bring it along, okay?!

Kewanee Pool and Spa was the last team standing in 12-15 inches of mud to be named champions of the 2011 Hog Wallow Classic. Team members pictured above include front from left: Denise King, Amanda Johnson, Morgan Nelson and Karleigh Hagerman. Back row: Steve Becker, David Wager, Cody Hagerman and Doug Wager.
