As Carrie Underwood sings: "...Ever ever after is only a wish away!  And so it is for the ladies pictured above.

The Miss World Festival Pageants were held Saturday, August 2, 2008  at the First Christian Church auditorium and nine young ladies  were named either queen or runners-up in three pageants...Little Miss for those age 8 to 11; Junior Miss for those age 12 to 15; and Miss World  Festival for young ladies 16 to 21.  Winners receive scholarships and cash prizes as well as merchandise prize packages.  Their Labor Day weekend is spent opening and hosting most of the festival events.  The theme for this year's pageants was "Your Ever Ever After Is Only A Wish Away!"

2008 marked the 21st year for the World Festival Pageants and a special presentation held during the Miss World portion of the program recognized some of the sponsors who have generously supported the pageants for most of its 21 year run. Honored were: BankOrion, Black Hawk College, Dairy Queen, Emma's Bloomers, Furniture Country, Galva Florist, Hair Essentials, Happy Joe's Pizza, Heart Felt Gifts, Hillside Florist, Lake Street Floral, McDonald's, Office Specialists, Paula's, People's Cleaners, Pizza Hut and Walter's Jewelers.

The picture to the left shows 2007 Miss World Festival Queen Jessalyn Rashid  leading the '08 contestants in a dance routine for the judges and audience. The 2008 pageants were under the direction of Kaye Finney.  Master of Ceremonies for the pageants was Dan Craig.
