It's Spatulas At High Noon...Sorta.

Don't know if they walk softly or not but Big Stick Barbecue of Kewanee, Il, a duo consisting of Jim Griffith and Marty Smith, established bragging rights for themselves at the seventh annual Pork Cook-off Showdown in 2011!

Co-sponsored by Save A Lot Meat & Grocery and The Pioneer Club of Kewanee, grills were set up in and around the Pioneer's beer garden and at 12:01 AM Sunday morning, September 4th of Hog Days weekend the cooking battle began! Contestants could enter in any or all of three categories...Ribs, Roasts or Miscellaneous.  Panels of judges sampled and declared winners. There were a total of 9 chefs and 27 items in the running.

Winners, (listed below) received $250 cash awards for first place and an overall grand champion winner received an additional $250 prize.  Second Place was good for $75 in each category and Third Place garnered $25.

So there you have it.  The matter of who does the best pork fixins' around these parts is settled for now. But come Sunday, September 2, 2012, spatulas will be raised once again...at the Showdown!
